Position Summary: Our Family of Parishes is seeking a full-time Family & Youth Coordinator with the knowledge, skill and ability to develop and support the liturgical, sacramental, and community life of the parish.
Duties & Responsibilities:
To establish, form and disciple a Family and Youth commission across the family of parishes who would be intimately involved in visioning and implementation of a comprehensive Family and Youth Ministry outreach.
To be the school liaison for liturgical, prayer and evangelization events and assisting the preparation of those events
To organize and facilitate various programs and activities that help to strengthen and enhance the spiritual life of Families.
Participate in sacramental preparation and celebration of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation with a strong family focus.
To provide activities and opportunities to strengthen relationships with the young people and families of the parishes as follow-up, post-sacramental preparation in collaboration with the Pastoral Minister.
To coordinate the children’s liturgy program “Sunday School” and its volunteers.
To be present at weekend liturgies as assigned/agreed upon.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirement is a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry or Youth Ministry (completed, in progress or willing to acquire) or a program deemed by the diocese as equivalent
Must be an active practicing Catholic, a Pastor’s letter of recommendation is required
More advanced education would be an asset, e.g., CYM, CPM, M.Div., MTS, BA or MA in Religious Studies, Theology or Pastoral Ministry
Previous experience in youth ministry/parish volunteer work would be an asset
Knowledge and understanding of various social media forums such as, but not limited to, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.
Strong communication, leadership and organizational skill are necessary
A valid driver’s license and access to own personal transportation is a definite asset
Must be flexible to work some weekends and evenings.
Salary: Based on training and experience and within the guidelines of the Diocese. Benefits: Available based on Diocesan policy. Hours: 35 to 40 Hours per week
