POSITION SUMMARY:       The Family and Youth minister is responsible for a comprehensive and effective parish-based ministry by engaging youth and their families in the life, mission and ministry of the Church in collaboration with the coordinator Youth Ministry.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Promotes the Diocesan Vision of Youth and Family Ministry in our Family of Parishes, schools and homes.
• Equip and support parents in their roles as primary faith teachers of their children.
• Assists in sacramental preparation, with children and families.  This includes developing/leading sessions with parents and children.
• Assists in planning the liturgical celebration of the above sacraments collaboratively and is present for the celebration of sacraments.
• Coordinates High School Ministry Program.
• Communicates and collaborates with principals, teachers, chaplains, parent councils in parish schools.
• Provides pastoral visits and extra-curricular programming for parish elementary schools.
• Provides youth ministry resources for programming.
• Recruits, screens, trains and evaluates all ministry volunteers as per with the Diocesan Called, Gifted and Sent Program.
• Identify needs of unengaged families and develop and initiate programs and family-centered activities
• Reviews youth ministry programs in collaboration with the CYM to ensure meeting the needs of parish youth, families and schools.
• Coordinates and trains altar servers collaboratively.
• Demonstrates flexibility for weekend and evening work.

• Certificate in Youth Ministry or Pastoral Ministry, theology or religious education.
• Formation / understanding in current liturgical principals.

• Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing possessing a strong faith commitment, dedication to Gospel values.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in parish and pastoral team setting
• Ability to work with a flexible time schedule (including weekends)
• Proficiency in Microsoft office software. 
• Proficiency in navigating and creating social media
• Has valid driver’s license and access to car
• Commitment to personal and spiritual growth
