Some people are served by God to serve their fellow members of the Body of Christ in ordained ministry, as bishops, priests, and deacons. In their own distinct ways, they respond to this call to serve, to help all of the baptized to take up their mission and disciples. Some men pursue this vocation by preparing in the seminary and entering the priesthood, being ordained as deacons along the way. Others, who may be married with professional and family lives, become "permanent" deacons, who understake ministries of service and outreach, as well as certain liturgical and sacramental functions.
