Throughout the Diocese there are many people, groups, and associations living out their baptismal call in a variety of services and ministries. We recognize the important and necessary role the Lay Faithful play in the mission of the Church. The Gospel calls us all to work collaboratively for the glory of God and for the good of the Church, “for we are God’s servants, working together” (1 Cor 3:9).
In order that we may work together, recognizing the role of each in the Body of Christ (1 Cor 12:12-27), this document provides clarity on how parishes and the Diocese respond to requests from lay groups, associations, movements, and other Catholic endeavours. It also provides lay associations who work in the Diocese of London clarity regarding their role, their relationship with the Diocese, and the expectations of the Diocese.
