Position: Lay Ecclesial Minister of Family Faith Formation

Position Summary:
The primary focus of this position is to assist in designing, administering, and evaluating the parish religion educational/sacramental programs with an emphasis on the Sacraments of Initiation, providing leadership to assist parish volunteers in building a solid Catholic foundation for those receiving these sacraments and for their families. Working in collaboration with Parish Ministries and Pastoral Team, the primary function of this person is to oversee and supervise catechetical programs that are family focused.
Duties & Responsibilities:- To connect with individuals and to ignite their desire to accomplish the vision and mission of the Church
- To instruct and assist parents in the understanding of and preparing for sacraments
- To equip and support parents in their roles as primary faith teachers of their children
- To nurture and challenge the God-given gifts in others as that they put those gifts into action to serve others through missionary discipleship
- To develop and initiate programs and activities based on the teachings of Christ that encourage participation and integration of children and families into the church and greater communities
- Identify needs of unengaged families and create opportunities for them to learn and grow in their faith
- To consult, collaborate and assist Catholic school teachers regarding instruction for sacraments
- To set up and lead the practice for sacraments and to be present for parish celebrations.
Qualifications:- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Leadership and administrative skills, decision-making, program development and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft office software, internet, and all basic office equipment is required
- Displays thoughtfulness to others, understands different viewpoints of parish members, and always uses good judgment
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize while meeting deadlines and maintain flexibility
- Work collaboratively with Pastoral Team, Parish Staff and School Communities
- Build and maintain healthy relationships amongst families, schools, and parish staff
- The ability to implement age-appropriate instructional materials and methods of teaching
Requirements:- A practicing Catholic in good standing possessing a strong faith commitment, dedication to Gospel values and living a life of prayer and service is a definite asset
- Bachelor’s Degree in theology, pastoral ministry, religious education or related field or certificate in Pastoral Ministry or willingness to acquire one
- Religious education experience in a parish with an understanding of catechetical processes

- Attendance at weekly staff meetings
- Attendance at weekend liturgies
- French and/or Spanish language is a definite asset
- Proof of full Covid vaccination is required
Work Hours:
30-40 hours per week (flexible work week to include weekends and some weeknights)
