Our Mandate
Provide guidance and support to our faith communities, to Canadian citizens and Permanent residents in our communities to participate in the resettlement of refugees from abroad through the Private Sponsorship for Refugees (PSR) program of Canada. Duties include but are not limited to assessing sponsorship requests, assisting with the Immigration application process, aiding with sponsored refugees' settlement and integration in the community upon arrival in Canada, advocating for refugees' protection and assistance at local, regional, national and international levels through educational presentations and participation to fora.
Our Work
The Roman Catholic Diocese of London as a Sponsorship Agreement Holder is one of the pioneers in the Canadian refugee resettlement program that has engaged in the PSR in the wake of this program in 1979. We strive to respond to the plight of the neediest refugee populations forced out of their country of origin by multifaceted persecutions. The PSR program is a part of Canada’s humanitarian commitment and Christian duty that does not rely on public resources, but rather taps the energy and funds of faith communities, ethnic groups, families and benevolent people in order to provide required financial and emotional support to refugees, individuals who have fled their country due to fear of persecution. We lead groups to raise funds or use their personal income to assist sponsored refugees during their first year in Canada in accordance with the Government’s policies.

Please note that the R.C.E.C. Diocese of London as Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH) helps with refugee sponsorship ONLY for people and groups within the boundaries of the Diocese of London. Due to high volume of clients, work and unpredictable out of office duties of staff, appointments are strongly recommended.
