Position: Part-time Housekeeper Work Location: Holy Family Retreat House, 121 Victoria St RR#1, Harrow, ON N0R 1G0 Commitment: approximately10 hours per week. Must be available to work on weekends and/or evenings based on business needs. Hours may increase during busy periods. Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience and Diocesan policies. Posting Date: March 31, 2025 Closing Date: April 22, 2025, by 4:00 pm POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of the Holy Family Retreat House, the Housekeeper is responsible for a variety of tasks related to housekeeping, laundry, and ironing for retreatants' rooms and suites. The Housekeeper performs general housekeeping duties as required to ensure all areas of the retreat centre are clean, organized, and sanitary.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Follows the duty outline and ensures that all responsibilities are performed efficiently and correctly in a timely fashion.
Collects, sorts, and washes bed linens, towels, curtains, chapel linens, rags as per general fabric guidelines and washing machine settings. Irons items as required.
Performs general laundering of mattress pads, bedspreads as per yearly cleaning schedule.
Maintains a proper inventory of linens. Disposes of all worn and/or ragged linens as required.
Reports unsafe conditions, damage of property or broken goods to the Director.
Receives items and signs for receipt of housekeeping/laundry related orders.
Delivers clean and/or soiled bed linens, towels, rags, etc. to appropriate locations.
Performs general housekeeping duties for retreatant facilities (bedrooms, washrooms, kitchenettes), lounges, conference rooms, dining room and offices.
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Director.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma
3-5 years of relevant service in Housekeeping in the hospitality industry.
Professional, pleasant, courteous and welcoming disposition.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Works well independently with minimum supervision and in a team.
Responds promptly to guest needs.
Good attendance and punctuality.
Demonstrated skills in the proper and safe operation of laundry machines, clothes iron and sewing machine.
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
Knowledge of health and safety requirements and standards applicable to the hospitality industry.
Performs physical motions including bending, twisting, stooping, pushing and pulling.
The demands of this position require work involving standing, walking, ascending and descending stairs as well as safely lifting and carrying objects of up to 25 kg.
Willingness to support the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church, the Diocese of London, and the Holy Family Retreat House.
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
