The Avon Thames Catholic Family of Parishes (St Joseph’s and Immaculate Conception) is seeking a qualified, experienced principal musician (organist and pianist) for weekend Masses and seasonal liturgical celebrations. This individual will support the Coordinator of Music & Liturgy in creating a prayerful atmosphere with liturgical music. The organist and pianist should display a taste for a variety of liturgical music types – from traditional to contemporary.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Accompany cantor, choir and musicians during rehearsal, Mass and liturgical services
- Support the church’s worship environment through well-prepared execution of music
- Work cooperatively with the Pastor and the Coordinator of Music and Liturgy and maintain a positive attitude/behaviour in dealings with clergy, parishioners, and the community as a representative of the Parish
- Provide music for funerals and weddings as directed by the Coordinator of Music & Liturgy
- Advise Coordinator of Music & Liturgy of any repairs and maintenance is needed for the church organs and pianos/keyboards.
Qualifications- Proficient in playing the organ and keyboard and experience in accompaniment
- Exemplary communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of liturgical services, worship, and Masses of the Roman Catholic Church
- Must be available on weekends, evenings and holidays as needed
- Good degree of understanding and experiences with sound equipment
