POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Diocesan Youth, Young Adult and Family Ministry Specialist, the Youth Leadership Event/Camp Coordinators will oversee the planning, training, and implementation of day leadership camps, faith-building events, teen retreats curriculums, programming for school-aged children and high school students. The Coordinators will view previous programs and amend and update as necessary for application this summer.
Event/Camp Coordinators are responsible for the planning and delivering of day camp/retreat/youth leader training programs. They will regularly lead large group sessions, support counselors and ensure participants are enthusiastically engaged in all summer experiences.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Primary Duties:
Assist the Youth and Family Specialist in planning programming for day camps, teen retreats, and youth leader training days
Enthusiastically deliver the programs along with camp counselors
Evaluate in-person programs on a daily basis
Collaborate effectively with counselors and other staff
Ensure all participant's safety and wellness
Determine if/how the program can be modified to ensure it is most effectively implemented
Be a positive role model to the participants and staff
Secondary Duties:
Attend and facilitate daily staff meetings
Manage scheduling conflicts that arise
Contribute to the ongoing evaluation of programs, staff, and participants
Assist in maintaining the facilities, grounds, and equipment that the team will be using
Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Manger.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of Ontario secondary school diploma or equivalent.
Enrollment in postsecondary education in a related field of study.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. French language skills are an asset.
Awareness of adventure and experiential education strategies.
Relate well to young people.
Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
Possess a high level of maturity, patience, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.
Work extremely well independently and in group settings.
Have a strong knowledge of the Catholic faith and its teachings.
Professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times with an understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London.
CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification are assets.
A police record check as deemed acceptable by the Diocese of London.
A police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
